This policy explains how ByteSeek Chat (operated by ByteSeek Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong) collects, uses, and protects your information, and the rights you have. It describes only data processing that actually exists.
What we collect
Account information
- Registration email
- Password (stored as a salted hash only, never in plaintext)
- Nickname, avatar, and similar profile fields you set
Conversation data
- Conversation content you submit, files you upload, and model output returned
- Session history (to provide the history feature)
Transaction information
- Subscription, order, and code-redemption records (to deliver paid entitlements and handle after-sales and disputes)
- We do not store full card numbers or similar sensitive payment data; payment is handled by payment providers
Logs and technical information
- Sign-in times, IP address
- Browser, device, and system information
- Technical logs necessary to run the service
Referral relations
- Referral relationships and reward records when you join the referral program (for settlement and anti-abuse)
How we use it
- Provide and maintain chat, image generation, file analysis, and other core features
- Store and display your session history
- Process subscriptions, redemptions, and after-sales
- Protect accounts, control risk, and prevent abuse
- Troubleshoot and improve the service
- Meet legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not train models on your conversations.
Conversation data and third-party models
To complete a model call, your conversation content is transmitted to the corresponding third-party model service. We transmit only what the call requires; the third party's handling is additionally governed by its own terms.
Third-party processing
To provide the service, these categories of third parties process some data within necessary limits: upstream model providers (conversation content), payment providers (payments), and infrastructure providers (servers and networking). We share the minimum necessary and require confidentiality and security obligations.
Disclosure required by law
We may disclose necessary information: in response to lawful requests from competent authorities; to comply with legal obligations or protect the platform's and users' lawful rights; to handle payment fraud or security incidents. Unless prohibited by law, we make reasonable efforts to notify affected users.
Cookies
We use necessary cookies and similar technologies to maintain sign-in state and core functionality, and no third-party advertising trackers. Disabling cookies may prevent sign-in.
Retention and security
- Account information is kept for the life of the account; session history until you delete it or the account closes; transaction records as financial regulations require.
- We protect data with encrypted transport (HTTPS), access control, and least-privilege measures.
- If a data-security incident may affect your rights, we notify you promptly as required by law, with remediation details.
- No internet service is absolutely secure; safeguard your own credentials.
Cross-border processing
Our servers and upstream model services may sit in different jurisdictions. By using the service you acknowledge and consent to cross-border transfers necessary to deliver it; transfers are protected with encryption and similar measures.
Your rights
At any time you can:
- View and correct your account information in the site
- Delete your session history
- Request an export of your data (via the support email)
- Request account deletion (via the support email; data is then deleted per the retention rules above, except records the law requires us to keep)
Minors
The service targets users with full legal capacity. We do not knowingly collect minors' personal information; guardians who find a minor using the service without consent should contact us.
Updates
This policy may be updated from time to time; updates are published here with a refreshed effective date, and material changes are additionally announced in reasonable ways.
